Bio-inspired robotics · United Kingdom
Engineering motion as nature intended.
Strand Robotics is building the next generation of bio-inspired robots: machines that move with the efficiency, endurance and agility of living creatures.

01 — Mission
Nature solved locomotion long ago. Robotics is still catching up.
Birds cross oceans on remarkably little energy. A greyhound corners at full speed without losing its footing. Living things move with an economy and grace that today’s machines rarely match.
We believe the gap lies not in materials or computing, but in how machines are built to move. Strand Robotics exists to close it, with robots that are lighter, run for longer and perform better in the real world.
02 — Approach
First principles first. Then hardware.
Every design starts with the physics. We only build what we can model, and we only claim what we can measure.
01 / Observe
Learn from biology
We study how animals generate, store and recover energy as they move, and turn those principles into engineering requirements.
02 / Model
Prove it on paper
Each concept is physics-modelled before it is built, so we know exactly where performance comes from and can demonstrate it.
03 / Build
Iterate in hardware
In-house rapid prototyping takes designs from model to working demonstrator quickly, with tight loops between test and redesign.
Our core architecture is proprietary. We share technical detail with prospective partners and funders under NDA.
03 — Applications
Built for the places conventional robots struggle.
Aerial endurance
Long-endurance aerial platforms for inspection, monitoring and survey work.
Legged mobility
Efficient legged systems for uneven, unstructured and changing terrain.
Security & resilience
Persistent, low-signature platforms for security, resilience and civil protection missions.
04 — Team
Founded by engineers who have shipped robots at scale.
